The global education system has undergone significant change.
Teachers adapt and implement a variety of strategies in online learning
management systems. They incorporate ICT, social media, and web tools in
English language teaching. In many countries around the world, teachers use
various online tools and learning systems extensively in the classrooms for
planning and sharing lesson content, recording attendance, providing
assignments, feedback, and grading students' work. In my personal experience,
I've used Moodle, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, and so on.
I have designed my course in Google Classroom. There are many LMS
but I chose Google Classroom because it is easy to use, integrates with a wide
range of apps and websites; seamlessly shares and collects Google Workspace
documents. The
use of learning management systems such as Google classroom has been one of the
vibrating assets to foster teaching-learning situations and technological
awareness for the learners in the language classroom (Rodriguez Moreno et al.,
2019) which helps enhance technological knowledge in the diverse classroom.
Several studies in various contexts, such as (Karaaslan & Elebi, 2017;
Kobayashi, 2015; Kokoç, 2019), report that Google Classroom, as an adaptable
application, has introduced new experiences of gaining knowledge and sharing
skills through collaboration in both online and offline modes.
While creating my online course on the Google Classroom platform,
I discovered that Google Classroom is an easy way to help students with the
transition because it is extremely user-friendly, making it a great
introduction to technology. Google Classroom functions similarly as a
virtual extension of traditional classrooms. It explores the features found in
this application such as sending information, starting discussions,
distributing, and collecting tasks (Zhang, M. 2016).
Google Classroom is extremely fast and simple to use. There is no
need for teachers or students to be concerned about missing documents,
assignments, materials, and grades. Because all documents are stored in the LMS
(Learning Management System) for free. Learners can see all their tasks on
Google Classroom. In certain folders, activities for the cloud year, all
ratings, assignments, and material can be seen in the application and the
teacher can store e-learning material in centralized data.
Moreover, Google Classroom worked well with other Google Drive
applications and add-ons such as Google Documents, Google Sheets Slides, and
Google Forms. Google Classroom, an application that is easily and freely
accessible, became the students' preferred method of learning content and
technological skills. Bashir (2019), for example, reports on the interactive
use of online applications for the development of a cooperative learning contex
through collaboration. Similarly, Geiller (2014) suggests taht learners should receive
in-class training on online applications such as Google Classroom so that they
can improve their language skills.
My English grammar course in Google Classroom is designed for
ESL students who want to study or improve their English grammar rules without
spending hours on the internet. Also, for students who need help preparing for
English proficiency tests in particular. Students in my online course can learn
and practice the following grammar topics: Singular and Plural noun forms,
Countable and Uncountable nouns, Adjectives and Prepositions, Adjectives ending
in ''ed'' and ''ing'', Articles, Question forms, Gerunds, and Infinitives. I
gave clear instructions on each topic and used WordWall, Kahoot, and Edpuzzle
platforms in order to create diverse types of activities.
Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to improve their spoken English
- Students will be able to improve their English listening
skills
- Students will improve their English writing skills
- Students will begin using English grammar without
hesitation
Students in my English
grammar course will review English grammar rules in a very simple, perfectly
structured, and uncomplicated way. It means that students will remember English
grammar rules better and, as a result, they will improve their English grammar
skills and speak better English.
To sum up, it's been proven time and time again that students are engaged by technology. Google Classroom can assist students in becoming and remaining engaged in the learning process. If you have students answer questions in the classroom, for example, other students can comment on these answers to help both students think more deeply. Overall, using Google Classroom is beneficial. It can save you a lot of time and energy while also assisting you in better preparing your students for the future.
